Privacy
Last changed November 2, 2026
We don't sell your data or show you ads. Your plans are private until you share them. If you delete your account, your account and plans are gone, and our backups forget them within 30 days.
What we keep, and why
- Your plans. Your trips, lists, collections, and the places in them, and your notes and times.
- Your account. The email address and name Apple or Google shares when you sign in, plus the username and bio you choose. We don't use your email for marketing.
- What you do with other people's plans. Your saves, collections, and follows, plus anyone you block or report. Blocks and reports are kept so the app stays safe to share in.
- How you use the app. What you view, tap, and search for, including screen recordings and crash reports. It's tied to your account, and we use it to improve the app. To turn it off, go to your profile, open the ··· menu, then Settings, then Privacy, and turn off Share how I use the app.
- How much you import. A daily count of your imports and the places in them, so the daily limits work.
Who sees what
A plan is private until you share it. Share a link and anyone with the link can read it. Make it public and it shows on your profile and in Explore. Once you pick a username, people can find you by your name or username. They see your name, username, color, bio, and public plans. If you follow someone, they can see that you do. Nothing else about you is shown.
Your location
Only while the app is open, and only if you allow it. Explore uses a rough position to show plans near you. You're near uses your exact position to find places around you, and asks Google Maps for them. We don't save your location.
Who else is involved
- Supabase stores everything, in the western United States.
- PostHog records how the app is used, in the United States.
- Apple or Google signs you in.
- Google Maps gets what you type when you search for a place, and the place names we find in what you paste or share, and sends back names and addresses. When Google can't answer, OpenStreetMap does.
- An outside AI service reads text you paste, and the words of a post you share, to find the places in them. We ask before the first time, and you can turn it off in Settings, under Privacy. It gets that text, and we don't send your name or email with it.
- Apple Maps gets a place's name and position when you open it there.
- Cloudflare serves the website and the links you share.
- Google's maps and sign-in code sends Google its own diagnostics.
Each of them protects what we share with it at least as well as this page does.
What stays on your phone
If you turn on calendar sync, your dated trips go into a Try My Trip calendar in your Calendar app. Turning it off removes that calendar. The widgets and the Live Activity read from a copy kept on your phone. Sharing a place into Try My Trip from another app looks it up in Google Maps, then adds it to the trip or list you pick. A Google Maps list link you paste is read on your phone: the app asks Google for that list, then adds its places to the plan you pick.
Deleting your account
Go to your profile, open the ··· menu, then Settings, then Delete account. It removes your account and everything in it, and tells Apple to forget your sign-in if you used Apple. Our encrypted backups are kept for 30 days, so it's gone from those within a month. The record of how you used the app is kept for up to a year. Reports other people made about you are kept, with the name and username you had then, so the app stays safe to share in.
Children
Try My Trip isn't for children under 13.
